Hi ladies and hello 2015!! I know that many of you are super excited because you may know someone that's getting married this year, are a member of the bridal party, or you are the one and only bride herself! So... along with the New Year is a trending bridal season just waiting to hit the scene. There are so many great bridal trends for 2015 that I wanted to share some of my favorites you can expect to see very soon.
Some of you are thinking, “Did she really just say lace???” The answer is a definite yes! Lace here, lace there, I’ll take lace anywhere! Although lace left the scene for quite a while, it is making an oh so elegant and chic comeback. Lace was everywhere in the 2015 Bridal Fashion Show. I loved the gowns that showcased lace as the material of choice for the plundering dramatic necklines, on the sleeves for the succulent off- the- shoulder gowns, and for the very popular, but daring illusion gowns. I know that lace can seem a little old fashion, but done the right way, it can be the added touch that pulls deverything together so nicely.
There are so many variations of bridal crowns and headbands on the market that just about any bride can find what works for them. A beautiful crown made of flowers or leaves for the rustic or “earthy” bride look divine for an outdoor ceremony. Those brides that desire a more royal or sparkly feel may find favor with the gold, silver
, or copper crowns, or a crown adorned in jewels. A crown (I am not referring to a tiara or queenly crown) would serve as a great DIY project and look awesome with a low bun or a low pony.
Move over rustic themed weddings and bring on the vintage! Although rustic styled weddings are still very much a trend, I have truly fallen in love with the whole simplistic, but timeless feel of a vintage wedding. A vintage theme adds a touch of sophistication and gives a romantic appeal without feeling overdone or over the top. Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson’s wedding was an excellent example of this.
Being a makeup artist myself, I had to address the very popular trend of “beauty makeup”. Yes, I know that all makeup is considered “beautiful” in some respect, but just let me explain. Your wedding day makeup should truly define who you are as a person, an individual. While it’s so much fun to look like someone else, why not focus on enhancing the already beautiful canvas you were born with? Vogue backstage pro Teddi Cranford says of your wedding day makeup, “Instead, skip the face sculpting and ask for beautiful fresh skin and groomed brows to provide a more modern effect. When executed with a skilled hand, taupe-colored sculpting powders can bring attention to your best features in photographs without looking like actual makeup.” The great thing about makeup is that there’s so much diversity! With that in mind, you have to do what suits YOU, no matter the trend. This is just my two cents so whether you like a fresh or smokey look, make sure it’s what you want and own it!
